
Overview
1. Booking & Payment
All bookings must be confirmed in writing (text or email).
All quotes and estimates given by Paewai Transport are GST inclusive, there are no hidden costs. All quotes are valid for 10 days.
A deposit may be required to secure a booking. Full payment is due prior to or on the day of transport unless otherwise arranged.
Accepted payment methods: bank transfer, or other pre-agreed options.
Cancellations within 48 hours of scheduled pickup may incur a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the quoted price.
We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue invoices at a daily rate.

2. Risk, Liability & Insurance
All care is taken, but horses are transported entirely at the owner’s risk.Horse owners are strongly advised to arrange appropriate insurance cover. Paewai Transport does not provide insurance.
Horses remain under Paewai Transport’s care at all times, no subcontractors are used unless arranged prior to transportation.
Paewai Transport accepts no responsibility for illness, injury, loss, or death during transport, however caused.
3. Horse Health & Fit for travel
Horses must be healthy, and in a condition suitable for transport.
The owner must disclose any known behavioural issues, medical conditions, or injuries before transport.
Paewai Transport reserves the right to refuse to load or transport any horse deemed unsafe or unfit for travel.
Gastropell is available at request courtesy of Paewai Transport at no extra cost.
4. Difficult Loading
If loading exceeds 30 minutes, a $100 per hour loading fee applies.
If a horse cannot be loaded after 1 hour, the owner is liable for 50% of the transport fee plus a $100 hard loader charge.
Paewai Transport may decline transport at any point (including once loaded) if behaviour presents a safety risk. A 50% cancellation fee will apply.

5. Delays & Schedule Changes
Transport times are estimates only and may be affected by weather, traffic, vehicle issues, or animal behaviour.
We will communicate any significant delays as soon as reasonably possible.
Paewai Transport is not liable for costs incurred due to delays or rescheduling outside of our control.
6. Loading & Unloading
The owner or an authorised handler must be present for loading and unloading unless otherwise agreed.
If no one is available at the agreed time, a waiting or holding fee may apply.
Additional handling charges may be added at our discretion if extra time is required.

7. Agistment & Holding Fees
If a horse cannot be delivered at the agreed time due to owner unavailability or other issues, temporary agistment or holding fees will apply.
These will be charged at a daily rate, agreed prior to or at the time of transport.

8. Equipment & Gear
Horses must be presented with a secure halter.
Horses may travel with a light scrim rug in cool weather or overnight, but covers are generally not recommended during transport.
Boots and tail wraps are permitted if provided by the owner and if the horse is accustomed to wearing them.
Lead ropes are not required, but if provided, we are not responsible for returning the correct one upon unloading. We recommend packing lead ropes with other gear.
All gear must be clearly labelled. Paewai Transport is not liable for loss or damage to gear transported with the horse.
Transport of gear (e.g., covers, feed bins, saddles) must be arranged in advance and is subject to space availability, as a courtesy of Paewai Transport.

9. Right to Refuse Service
Paewai Transport reserves the right to refuse service to any person or animal for safety, welfare, or operational reasons.
10. Dogs
All dogs and puppies are a flat rate of $150 across NZ
Pick up and drop off points are only available along main highways where horse transport is already scheduled to travel.
Paewai Transport accepts no liability for illness, injury, loss, or death of dogs during transport.
Dogs will be housed in secure kennels in the float and provided with appropriate toilet stops and water.
Vaccinations are not required; however, all transport is undertaken at the owner’s risk.
Kennels are regularly sprayed with parvo killer which is non-toxic.
11. Property Access & Rest Stops
Upon booking, the owner must disclose any important information regarding property access, including but not limited to: low-hanging trees, narrow driveways or gateways, lack of turnaround areas, steep terrain, or other hazards.
The driver will assess the suitability of the access upon arrival. If the property is deemed unsuitable for safe entry or exit, horses must be loaded or unloaded at the gate or a more suitable nearby location as directed by the driver.
On longer journeys, scheduled rest stops are provided at approved depots with secure yards or stables. These stops allow horses to be safely watered, fed, and to stretch their legs.
During transport, horses are provided with ad-lib hay.
On overnight stays, horses receive two hard feeds daily (cool feed and FibreProtect) as a courtesy of Paewai Transport.

12. Agreement
By booking with Paewai Transport, the horse owner acknowledges and agrees to all Terms and Conditions outlined above.
